Solo Journaling RPGs You Print at Home

A solo journaling RPG is a game you play on your own, in your own journal. You turn a card from a standard deck of playing cards or roll two dice, read what happened, and write (or glue) one page. Nobody runs the game for you and there is nothing to memorise. Every game here is a printable PDF you download straight away and can play in a notebook you already own. There is no set length: you play at your own pace, a turn a day or a turn a week.

Solo journaling RPG questions

What is a solo journaling RPG?

A role-playing game for one person, played in a journal. A playing card or a roll of the dice tells you what happens, and you write the page.

Which game is best for beginners?

The Unanswered Letter. It is the simplest of the games: you turn one card, write the letter you received, then write your reply.

What do I need to play?

A standard 52-card deck of playing cards, a notebook or journal you already own, and a pen. The Keeper’s Log uses two ordinary dice instead of cards. The card games are designed for a standard deck of playing cards only.

How long does a game take?

There is no fixed length. You play at your own pace: a turn a day or a turn a week is up to you.

What paper size are the files?

They are print-ready PDFs in US Letter size, and they print on A4 at home too (choose fit to page).
