Belladonna Hour is a set of 30 dark floral background papers in deep plum, wine and slate green. Foxglove spires, nightshade berries and open damask blooms sit on mottled plaster washes, with gold flecks worked through the leaves. It is the first kit in The Poison Garden series from Artful Safari.
The whole set was designed as one collection, so any two sheets layer without the colours arguing. Use it for a gothic scrapbook page, a dark academia album, a junk journal spread or a moody card.
What is in this dark floral background kit
30 papers, each a finished 12 x 12 inch design rather than a repeating tile:
- 8 foxglove spire papers, tall plum and burgundy spires running the height of the page over a grey-green wash
- 6 berry cluster papers, nightshade berries and rosehips scattered through slate-teal foliage with gold detail
- 6 large bloom papers, open damask-style flowers in deep wine and charcoal, the boldest sheets in the set
- 6 misty wash papers, botanicals sinking back into fog, quiet enough to take journaling or a photo on top
- 4 plaster blender papers, plain aged washes in grey-green, stone and warm bone, with no botanicals
File formats and sizes
- 30 high-resolution JPG files
- 12 x 12 inches, 3600 x 3600 pixels
- 300 DPI, ready for print or screen
- Instant digital download. The pack is too large to attach directly, so you receive a PDF of download links
Works with
Any app that opens a JPG. That includes Procreate, Photoshop, Affinity, Canva, GoodNotes, and digital scrapbooking software such as Artisan. Nothing has to be unlocked or converted first. You can print a sheet at home, though at 12 x 12 it will be reduced or cropped to fit US Letter or A4.
How to use Belladonna Hour on a page
Start with one of the misty wash or plaster papers as the base and keep the centre clear for a photo or a block of writing. Add a bold bloom sheet as a mat or a torn strip along one edge, so the loud pattern frames the quiet middle rather than fighting it.
Across a spread, repeat two motifs instead of using all five groups at once. The foxglove spires read as vertical lines and the berry papers read as texture, which is usually enough contrast for a double page.
Styling ideas
For a clean gothic look, pair a plaster blender with a single foxglove sheet cut into a narrow band. For a full junk journal page, layer a berry paper under torn edges of a bloom sheet and let the gold flecks catch at the seams. Same dark floral background papers, different spacing.
What you can make with this dark floral background paper
Scrapbook and memory-keeping pages, junk journal spreads and signatures, Halloween and autumn albums, greeting cards, invitations, tags, book covers, planner decoration, collage, and printed backgrounds for quotes or lettering. The licence covers small-business use, so the papers can also sit behind a product line you sell.
Why this dark floral background set works
Dark papers are easy to get wrong. Push the contrast too far and a photo disappears into the page. These sheets hold their deepest values in the botanicals and keep the ground light, which is why a photograph or a line of handwriting still reads on top of them. Four plain blenders in the set means you always have somewhere to put the words.
Licence
For personal and small-business use. You can sell finished products made with the papers, such as cards, prints, printables and journals. You cannot resell, share or redistribute the paper files themselves, and they cannot be sold on as a digital product.
Instant download
Your files are ready the moment you check out. The link is on the order confirmation and in your account, so you can come back for it later. Nothing is posted to you.
Frequently asked questions
What size are the papers?
12 x 12 inches at 300 DPI, which is 3600 x 3600 pixels, saved as JPG.
Are these seamless repeating patterns?
No. Each one is a finished page design, so the foxgloves and berries sit exactly where they were painted.
Can I print them on Letter or A4?
Yes, at a reduced size or cropped to the part you want. If you need pages that print edge to edge on Letter, the junk journal kits in the shop are the ones built for that.
Can I use them on things I sell?
Yes. Finished pages, cards and printables you make with the papers are fine to sell. The paper files themselves are not.
